Who is a Project Manager?

A project manager works in developing project planning and budgeting while managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring that they are in line with business and project objectives. Their work also includes managing groups of people, engaging with team members regularly, and removing any roadblocks.
 

Roles and Responsibilities of a Project Manager:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for contract, budget, and service performance issues.
  • Assist the team with contract requests, competitive bidding, bid defense meetings, and vendor interactions.
  • Create, negotiate, and execute deals that optimize value and support project development tasks on time, on budget, and within the outsourcing process parameters.
  • Ensure that contract issues are communicated to teams and outsourcing management promptly so that project timeframes are not impacted.
  • In project studies, analyze cost drivers and procedural/study-related costs, and lead discussions to provide the best value for quality, pricing, and service.
  • Examine financial data from suppliers to confirm that pricing matches the services required.
  • Balance the budget with the service provider contracts.
  • Follow organizational guidelines and standards to create and maintain relevant contracting documents.
  • To fulfill project deadlines, manage, prioritize, and assign contract burden to self and team members.

 

Educational Qualifications & Skills required to be a Project Manager:

  • a bachelor's degree in any field who is detail-oriented and has excellent computing/software skills.
  • strong communication skills
  • thorough knowledge of market research
  • problem-solving and negotiation abilities are essential.
  • must be able to operate in a fast-paced workplace
  • ability to handle several projects and priorities at the same time.
  • experience and knowledge of project management software such as JIRA, Asana, Confluence etc. 

 

Salary statistics: 

The average salary project manager salary in India is around 14 LPA but there are variations are according to the sector, company, level of experience, locations, and the relevance of skills. The beginners can earn around 1-4 LPA with experienced project managers earning up to 20 LPA.
